In addition, we believe that determining the carbon target of the companies regarding the production phase will accelerate the recovery process in the climate crisis.” said.

The Climate Goal Acceleration Program started simultaneously in 54 countries to combat the climate crisis, which is one of the biggest dangers awaiting the world. Only 28 companies from Turkey participated in the UN Global Compact's program, which aims to bring companies to the net zero target and to accelerate efforts towards this goal. While there is only one cement producer among the companies, there are no construction companies.

Mehmet Sami Kılıç, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environmentally Friendly Green Buildings Association, stated that as ÇEDBİK, they always stated that environmentally friendly building investments are one of the most effective measures in the fight against the climate crisis. We believe it will speed up the healing process. The business world has an important role to play in this regard.” said.

Explaining that the countries in the world have taken measures to reach the carbon neutral target and keep the average global temperature at 1.5 degrees until 2050, and companies have started to be involved in these measures, Mehmet Sami Kılıç said that a struggle that is not supported by the private sector as well as the countries and communities will not produce effective results. . Stating that the construction industry, which is considered the locomotive of the economy, should lead the way in this regard, Mehmet Sami Kılıç said, “There is no struggle without a goal, targets must be determined first. The first step is for businesses to measure and record their carbon footprints, ie greenhouse gas emissions. The next step is to identify measures such as energy efficiency, production or purchase of renewable energy in order to reduce the carbon footprint, and to make the necessary investments in this regard. This issue is also of interest to cement companies and other building material manufacturers, which have increased their capacities in recent years and have grown by about 20 percent and expanded their exports considerably.” he said.
